There are many relatively new terminologies floating around today, that may be confusing to some, of which, one of the more common ones, is the “cloud”. When people talk about the “cloud”, what they refer to is remote server storage or services The main benefit of using a cloud based event management software is:

Easily accessible at all times through the internet

Stored in a professional environment with regular backups

Appropriate security measurements are upheld

Good server uptimes are guaranteed

The data should be accessible for you from any device, being, PC, tablet or smartphone at any times, and be easy for you to share and administrate.

Collecting guest data:
If you’re used to doing it like most other people, you register and consolidate RSVP’s via email, SMS, social media and phone calls. The thought of replacing this with a guest “cloud” might seem overwhelming and complicated. Actually it’s not.

After sending the invitation, publishing the social media campaign or launching your registration website your guests may register through various mediums and will be stored into your guest “cloud” in a consolidated database. You will be able to access it at anytime from anywhere, share access with colleagues or clients, export, and add or modify guests. One the day of the event you simply login to your account to check-in your guests.

Optimizing your content for 2013:

In the post PC era we now live in, people access the internet with their smartphone and tablet as much as or even more than they do with their PC. It is therefore crucial that all information shared, be it promotional or informational, is mobile friendly. More on that in my next post about mobile event content pages.

It has been another great Singapore Formula 1 weekend full of amazing events! One of them being the exclusive Bacchanalia Brunch Series F1 party, for which they used our Zeguestlist NFC check in solution for guest arrival check in. The guests were given branded RFID bracelets that they used to check in to the event upon arrival by simply tapping the bracelet to a Zeguestlist enabled smart-phone (see picture above). Smooth, classy and efficient!

The Bacchanalia Brunch Series is revolutionising Singapore’s daytime party scene. Each brunch is decorated with a different theme that will get you into a Champagne fueled party mode with strobe lights and house beats spun by some of Asia’s hottest DJs. For this special F1 event they flew in the famous DJ Cassidy from NYC, who nearly tore the roof off Marina Bay Sands. Hats off to Raj and Alex for putting together such a great party. Looking forward to the next one!

See more pictures of the event below!

On Friday 7th September Norway House organized a private charity event in Singapore, among friends and friends of friends to raise money for the Khmer Friendship Orphanage in Cambodia. All work preparing and organizing this event is purely voluntary work. Zeguestlist saw the opportunity to help relieve the team organizing this with some workload by offering them to use our system for registration and guest arrival check-in for the event. I am happy to say that the event went very well,, and the team was very satisfied with the support our system gave them with regards to registration and overview of attendance, before, during and after the event.

Norway House is a private aid initiative, non political and non religious, working to help the children at the Khmer Friendship Orphanage (KFO) in Cambodia. The initiative started in 2003. The orphanage is located 1-2 hours drive south of Phnom Penh and is situated in an old military compound. Approximately 150 children between 0-18 years live there. The orphanage is owned by the government in Cambodia, but they provide only a minimum of financial support. The children there can not survive without help from volunteer organizations. Norway House aims at improving the overall well-being of each child at KFO, by providing them with a safe and healthy environment. They focus on healthcare, nutrition, and general living conditions, and also support and encourage education for both children and staff. Their ultimate goal is to enable the children to lead independent and prosperous lives outside the orphanage.

I was personally part of one of the trips to the orphanage in Cambodia a few years back and was very impressed by Norway House. Seeing the progress and what they had been able to achieve for the children is incredible, helping them with everything from health, accommodation, clothing to education. They are truly trying to give these children; born with nothing; a real chance at in life.
The most important for me was to see how Norway House operates. We were bringing the clothes we had collected and personally giving them to each child. We were buying all sanitary equipment, kitchen appliances, toys and some food at the local market and also personally giving this to each child. In addition to this, arranging optician and doctor appointments for the children that needed it.
They usually organize 4 trips every year when a group of volunteers go to the orphanage to deliver and arrange everything. They never send any money, to make sure the all the money actually reaches the children at the orphanage and does not disappear due to corruption.
This hands-on approach they use shows the desire to get involved and make a real difference in these children’s lives, which I have a great deal of respect for. I can, from personal experience, say that donating money to Norway House will make a direct difference in these children’s lives.

Zeguestlist, and I personally fully support Norway House and what they stand for, being witness to the immense improvement at KFO since Norway House first started this initiative in 2003. I strongly recommend you to donate a bit if you can.

To finish I will quote Norway House: “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something”.

Hello,

We have just updated our conference name badge printing solution and I’am eager to share its functionality with you!
This will help you solve the hassle of organizing your name badges at events.

Let me start by explaining how the process works. When you check-in a guest using our system on your smart-phone, tablet or PC, the device sends the check-in data through our cloud to the printer. The printer then prints a name badge with the attendees’ information in a pre-defined size cut by the printer on the spot. All-in-all this process only takes about one second, and removes any potential bottleneck you may have finding name badge upon guest arrival. We recommend using thermal printers as they will never run out of ink/toner, and print the fastest.

We decided that we wanted to make this feature even better and more flexible.
So, we have now updated the function so that any data that you collected from the registration of your guests can be printed. This can for example be their job title, office location or any other data you may have collected from your guests when they register before the event. From the back-end of our system you can design the layout of your name badge and assign the fields you want to be printed. To top it all up, we added a function that enables the attendees’ contact information (VCard) to be printed on the badge as a QR-Code. When networking at an event, instead of exchanging business cards you can now scan your new acquaintance’s name badge with your smart-phone using your favorite QR reader to collect their contact information.

Pretty neat stuff!
